HYDERABAD, August 9, 2026: Members
of the Sindh Students Action Committee held a torchlight protest against the
Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) in Hyderabad on Sunday, demanding fair,
transparent and merit-based examinations for government jobs in Sindh.
Hundreds of students, including both male and
female candidates, as well as social activists, political party workers and
advocates, participated in the demonstration. The protesters carried torches
and raised slogans in support of merit, transparency and equal opportunities
for job seekers.
The demonstration began from Naseem Nagar and
passed through various areas of Hyderabad before reaching the protest camp
established outside the SPSC headquarters on Thandi Sarak. The protest camp has
reportedly been continuing for several days as candidates press the commission
and the Sindh government to address their concerns.
The protesters demanded that examinations for
different posts in the Sindh government be conducted in a fair and transparent
manner. They also called for greater accountability in the recruitment process
and urged the authorities to ensure that appointments are made strictly on
merit.
The protest comes amid continued concerns among
candidates regarding SPSC examinations and recruitment procedures. The
commission is responsible for conducting examinations, tests and interviews for
recruitment to various posts in Sindh government departments.
In a recent development, SPSC announced on July
18 that the written part of the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE-2025),
which had earlier been scheduled for the first week of August 2026, had been
rescheduled to September 2026 following applications from candidates.
SPSC has also announced that various
departmental examinations for the April/May 2026 session will be conducted in
Hyderabad during September.
The latest protest is part of broader concerns
expressed by candidates over transparency and fairness in SPSC's examination
and recruitment procedures. In May, a large number of candidates also held a
protest outside the SPSC headquarters in Hyderabad, raising concerns about
examination results and demanding greater transparency in the commission's
grading and selection process.
The protesters in Sunday's demonstration called on the authorities
to take immediate notice of their demands and ensure a transparent recruitment
system so that qualified candidates can secure government jobs on the basis of
merit
